Her Inspiration

"Nnamdi, I must confess that you are my inspiration. You have been from the first day. You inspired my first move toward you. The moment I set my gaze on you, it was magic, or perhaps it was a miracle.

You are my miracle inspiration.

That fateful day at the Nitty-gritty Lounge, you were the first to get my attention. Not because of anything you said or did to me. It was my wonder why a cute guy like you would sit alone with his head tilted backwards and tears dropping.

I onserved that the reason for tilting your head backwards was to prevent the tears from flowing. The struggle was real but the river still flowed and I could tell it was still being contained.

From the corner of my seat, I could trace the veins around your forehead region, they had formed some sort of small map. You were a puzzle to me that day, one I wanted to solve, at least try to solve. From the much I knew, men hardly cried but here was a man crying in a public space!

It took Amaka snapping her fingers in my face a couple of times to get me back into our ongoing conversation about our make-up business. Amaka traced to see the object of my distraction and could not fathom it.

"Emily, do you know him from somewhere or are your eyes only fixed on him with your mind somewhere else? What's the problem? We've been here only fifteen minutes and in the last ten minutes, you have been engrossed with something else?"

"I'm sorry, I was carried away by the thought of combining a make-up business with my fashion line. But I think I'm pretty sure about it now." I lied to Amaka because I knew she would not let me rest in the days to come if I didn't come up with an answer.

However, come to think of it, it wasn't completely a lie. When I looked at you that day, I felt the urge to paint your face and use my brush to knock out those tears and shooting veins. It gave me a better sense of purpose in the make-up business I was proposing to start with Amaka. I could help make people look better with my brushes and paints.

But then, would it make them feel better? Would it make you feel better?

So, I began to seek other ways to make the make-up business more impactful. Beyond painting faces and creating masks for such sad faces, I could create a session for therapy with an enabling environment.

That's how MakeSpire Concept came about. And so far, so good, it's been impactful and yielding dividends.

So, you see?

You've been my inspiration since day one.
