SUICIDE?

SUICIDE?
(Fiction inspired by real life events)
An attempt to intentionally take my life?
Hell Yes! Heaven No!

It was late Thursday night that year at about 10pm. Sleep was knocking and I was already giving in to the realm of dreams when I heard what sounded like a loud thud on the floor. It felt like someone mistakenly hit against a bucket full of water and fell flat. This dream was boring. So I made to adjust well so that I can have a nice dream. If I must dream, then it must be a good one.

I wish it was a dream but it wasn't, I could hear loud shouts that brought me back to the realm of consciousness.  I got up and opened the door, approaching the spot where the sound came from. These neighbours have started again. 'Face me I face you' apartment will not let someone have peace of mind. I was getting pissed and about to vent my anger on the small group that had formed when I saw the lady almost lifeless on the ground. There was Ariel, the most beautiful girl in the street.

I pushed aside the men who had gathered and drew closer to her, my ears to her mouth as I noticed she was muttering words like someone at the verge of death with a message to tell the world. I couldn't hear her clearly. I heard something but no, I can't believe my ears. This is not true. I've read it in the papers, seen it on the news but to behold it with my eyes, No!

I replayed the sentence in my head, "sniper, I drank sniper, I'm tired" As if I was injected, I screamed, shouted and called for the help of the men who stood clueless wondering why a young lady was on the floor, barely dressed. She had obviously swallowed the deadly poison in her room and struggled to come out of her room, gasping for air. She probably didn't know that this death would be as painful as this.

"snipe... what?" The panic thereafter was massive as everyone tried to get a hold on her. I gripped her stomach as if by doing so, she would be emptied of all the harsh chemical content. The effect of the this popular monster was playing already.

"Red oil! Open her mouth! Pour it in! Drink it Ariel, swallow it! " everyone became a medical counselor. There was palm oil everywhere but who cares. Someone volunteered to strapped her on his back. "Baba Murray,  abeg what of your car? We need am now abeg," I heard Sisi Shade ask.

"Ahhh, Jesu, of all days, na today wey the engine knock. I leave am for mechanic place since yesterday"

Confusion. Prayers! Holy Spirit! Peace! She shall not die! Mercy Lord! Father Lord! Ewooo!

Segun ran like a macho with Ariel on his back. He didn't even care what so ever, he was like an angel. I followed behind with other neighbours. Luckily, there was a  keke driver moving past, obviously going to retire for the day. She was thrown in. Segun shouted, "guy just move abeg! Move, move"

"Where I dey go na? Which hospital? I no know the place? Direct me." Driver said, afraid of the situation. There was a lifeless human in his vehicle at about 10.30pm.

"FirstCross hospital, e  dey for front, just dey go, we go show you. E be like say you new for this area. Who no know that hospital for this area."

In no time, we were at the hospital. At the reception, we shouted at the nurse that there was an emergency. She asked what and when she was told the case, she rushed off to call the doctor.

The doctor came and looked at the victim. Upon hearing the cause of the matter, she shouted, "why would you want to kill yourself? Please take her to the general hospital, we can't treat her here." She said this with the wave of her hand like someone who was driving away flies.

How do we get a driver to the general hospital now?
Segun suggested we arranged for an uber. At this point, Ariel had stopped breathing. I panicked. I could not feel her pulse. Someone spoke like an agent of hopelessness, "Nawa o, this on earth don give up already na. No need of hospital, why you go kill yourself na. Young lady like you, Shey na boyfriend break your heart, e  no reach to take your life, life continues be that..Even me sef I for kill myself but… ."

Segun interrupted her, "madam shut up, keep quiet. Must you talk? Abeg get out of here" He was disgusted.

Jesus please, not under my watch will she die. I hit her face, chest, palms, everywhere I could. Jesus must have brought her to life for she suddenly moved and requested for water.
We couldn't give her water. We weren't sure if that was a good idea. The uber arrived on time and was at the hospital in about 10 minutes.

Ariel was quickly attended to by the doctors and nurses. They asked what actually made her to attempt suicide. We didn't know. She would have to survive to tell the story.
As the doctors drained her of the poison through the pipes, the whole place was filled with smell of the chemical. It was a whole lot.

A nurse explained how lucky Ariel was and how that recently, they had lost a lot of young people to this monster. She showed us a picture of a young lady who took her own life for some flimsy excuse.

Ariel survived and is a testimony of how that God gives a special second chance.

If someone breaks your heart, there's room for healing. Your heart is not a glass that shatters beyond recovery. Even if that is the case, Jesus does what is termed impossible by men.

If someone disappoints, there is another someone who won't.

Everyday of our lives is a chance to live, to make choices. Please make safe choices.

Suicide is a never an option. The devil who is an arch enemy of your soul paints it so well and makes it an option that is easy and beautiful.

Easy isn't always the way, easy isn't always the solution.

It's a fight for your soul. You must contend. Take the strength from  the captain of the host. JESUS!

No matter what, just know that Hell applauds the option of suicide but Heaven says NO!
